Downloading Software

In computer terminology, to download something means to receive data to your system from another remote system, such as an email server. The word download can be used to refer to the data received or to the actual process itself. Conversely, an upload is a transaction in the opposite direction, with your local computer system uploading data to the remote system. Streaming data is a similar process but generally applies to a download of data which is immediately used, maybe whilst still being transmitted, and may not be stored. Downloads tend to imply that the data has been received to be stored and will not be able to be used until the transmission process is complete. [Read more...]
